Perched on the majestic cliffs of Clare Island on the western edge of Ireland, historic Clare Island Lighthouse has been lovingly transformed into one of the country’s most unique Celebrated Homes. Built in the northernmost point of the island in 1806, the Clare Island Lighthouse originally had only one tower, but after a fire destroyed the lantern in 1813, was restored and expanded adding the Keepers Dwellings and a second tower which holds the lantern today. The current owners have transformed the property into a 5-bedroom guesthouse complete with a serviced kitchen, sauna, patio, and library. All of the guest rooms have ensuite bathrooms with king beds, and there is one twin bedded room to accommodate children. Guests enjoy gathering at the top of the lantern tower for breakfast or for after dinner drinks at sunset. Clare Island is off the coast of County Mayo and can only be accessed via a 20-minute ferry ride from Roonagh Pier.
