With so much news coming out of Ireland over the past few years in regards to new hotels, refurbishments, renovations, re-openings and changes in ownership, some properties can get lost in the shuffle. We wanted to be sure you did not miss out on updates from three of our annually inspected partners that consistently receive excellent feedback.
These exceptional properties share three things in common:
1. Because of their locations, they fit well into many types of itineraries.
2. While more and more properties are shifting toward contemporary design, these properties stayed true to their traditional roots – while not being stuffy.
3. They have had massive investment recently which is keeping them at the top of their game in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
The K Club
Widely regarded as one of Europe’s best hotels, The K Club has invested significantly in recent years. They have designed many family-friendly rooming options such as dozens of connecting rooms, suites with sofa beds, two bedroom suites, cottages and a 10-bedroom mansion on their estate called Straffan House. The property is notable for its location and abundance of activities. Located just 35 minutes from Dublin and 40 minutes from Dublin Airport, it’s the perfect first stop on a trip to Ireland.

Guest can also take advantage of the many resort activities including kayaking, horseback riding and falconry. They even have their own pub in the village. Celebrated guests will receive a guaranteed upgrade at time of booking when reserving a Deluxe Bedroom, Deluxe Woodland View Room, Deluxe River View Room, or Liffey Suite and Art History Tour of extensive private art collection.
The Great Southern Killarney
Formerly known as The Malton, this property has changed name to Great Southern Killarney in keeping with its original provenance of being built as a grand railway hotel in the mid-19th century. The hotel’s new owners have looked after Celebrated guests for years. The Scally family also owns Hayfield Manor and Killarney Royal. Etienne Van Vrede now oversees all three properties as Managing Director of the group. The hotel has enjoyed 3 million Euros in investment over the past 24 months. All public areas have been refurbished, including the lobby which has been restored back to its original Victorian design. Each bedroom has received a face lift as well.
This delightful 4-star hotel has a great restaurant, buzzy lobby and bar, new outdoor terrace and indoor heated swimming pool. It also has the distinction of being located in the heart of Killarney making it a short walk to many shops and restaurants. Celebrated guests will receive a walking tour of Killarney during their stay.
Dromoland Castle
Dromoland Castle is one of the most iconic properties in Europe. This hotel has made a huge investment – well over 20-million Euros and reviews are incredible.
